Foinikas Village, also known as Phinikas is an abandoned medieval village in the Western side of Cyprus in the Paphos district. This "ghost Village" is located on the banks of the Asprokremmos Reservoir which has submerged some of the abandoned buildings. Hidden away in the Xeropotamos valley, Foinikas is off the beaten track and completely peaceful.

Dating back to the crusader times, the village was chosen for its strategic position against enemy attacks. he Knights Templar made this one of their administrative and agricultural centres.

The village was sparsely occupied over the centuries by predominantly Turkish Cypriots who abandoned the village completely after the Turkish invasion of 1974. The older Templar buildings mostly lie along the banks of the reservoir with more recent buildings in the surrounding hillsides.

The village has a haunting atmosphere, common in abandoned places. Hear the wind blowing through the trees, the occasional bleat of a distant goat, the birds singing and your own footsteps.

This tour lasts around 5-5.5 hours and your own private guide will show you the wonders of this beautiful location.
