This private minibus tour takes you to the Northern coast of Cyprus where you can explore ancient sites with stunning scenery. We have plenty of time to explore the gothic abbey at Bellapais village, the pretty harbour town of Kyrenia and we also visit St Barnabas Monastery. This tour is ideal for anyone looking to explore the history and culture of Cyprus with exceptional landscapes along the way.
Highlights:
This is available as a private tour by minibus for up to 8 people, any day. Please book at least 7 days in advance.
We travel north crossing the border into the occupied areas. Our first stop is at St Barnabas (Apostolos Varnavas) Monastery where the tomb of St Barnabas lies. As the Patron saint of Cyprus this is a significant cultural site. We then continue to Kyrenia where you have plenty of free time to stroll around the harbour, have some lunch (not included) or visit the castle which dominates the harbour entrance and now houses a museum.
On leaving Kyrenia we head up above the city to the village of Bellapais. This peaceful village has outstanding panoramic views over the coastline and was home to Lawrence Durrell in the 1950's. The high light of Bellapais are the ruins of the gothic Abbey but there are many architectural wonders to be admired in the village's tiny, winding streets.
