Description
We leave the holiday resorts behind and head to the Famagusta cultural Centre where we can watch a short film about the invasion of 1974 and find out a little about the history of the ancient city of Famagusta. We then cross the border and head for the fenced off "ghost town" of Varosha. This area of Famagusta was once the most glamorous holiday resort in the Med with royalty and film stars staying here. Then in 1974 it was abandoned in a matter of hours as the invading forces came and was sealed off to the public until 2020 when parts of the ghost town were opened up to the public. You have a little time to explore this area continuing on to the golden stretch of beach.

We then have a short drive around the walled old city of Famagusta followed by a short orientation tour in the old town. You then have free time to explore the numerous ancient sites or browse the shops for bargains.
