Description

Journey through the majestic Troodos mountains to the jewel in the crown of Cyprus - Kykkos Monastery. Here you’ll find a place where history, art, and spirituality all meet.

Home to an icon of the Virgin Mary said to have been painted by the Apostle Luke, the whole complex is richly decorated with ornate frescoes and icons. Kykkos attracts pilgrims from all over the world to see the icon of the Virgin Mary.

Believed to date back to the 11th century and founded by the Byzantines, Kykkos sits at a height of 1318 metres above sea level. It is a very wealthy monastery and is a popular destination for both religious pilgrims and tourists. Many will marvel at the church of the monastery which is purely decorated in gold throughout.

On leaving Kykkos you may choose to visit one of the other popular mountain villages such as Omodos or Phini, or we can head deeper into the forests to one of the medieval bridges or cool waterfalls.

This tour lasts around 5-6 hours and your own private guide will show you the delights of this beautiful area.
