Bellapais Abbey is the ruin of a monastery built by Canons Regular in the 13th century on the northern side of the small village of Bellapais, around 5 km from Kyrenia city on the Northern Coast of Cyprus.

The magnificent gothic structure has panoramic views of the coastline and surrounding countryside and you can feel the centuries of history all around you as you sit under a palm tree in one of it's tranquil courtyards.

Kyrenia was once one of the most important cities in Cyprus but since the Turkish occupation it has developed into a touristy hot stop with a sleepy feel to it. The harbour is dominated by the Venetian Castle which now houses a museum (additional entry fee applies if you wish to enter the museum)

This tour lasts around 6-6.5 hours and your own private guide will show you the delights of this semi-mountainous area. Take time to wander the streets of Bellapais village, purchase some souvenirs or enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the village restaurants.
