Lefkara Village and Lake Walking Tour from Ayia Napa Protaras

This tour is available Monday to Friday (not at weekends), all year round, excluding public holidays.

The start time is around 08.30am

Including travel time to/from the walk location, this activity will take around 8 hours.

This is a private tour for groups of up to 4 people with a professional private guide.

Pano Lefkara is the default meeting point of the trip. Here we have the opportunity to explore the stone-built village, which is the production centre of the famed lace. Leonardo da Vinci visited the village and loved Lefkaritika lace. Besides meandering through the maze of the village, the village's central church is worth a visit and according to local tradition, it houses a piece from the Holy Cross.

As it is a private tour the itinerary has some flexibility if you wish to spend longer at a stop to walk or discover additional sights.

The focus of the trip is the exploration of the scenic manmade lake of Lefkara and to the picturesque village of Pano Lefkara.

The lake is surrounded by high hills, and one can see an islet and various lovely formations around. The local flora is diverse and the geology is characterised by shades of red.

The walking route on the dirt road can extend to at least ten kilometres, but it is the first five that provide a view towards the lake. The easy walk is on a hardly used dirt road. We walk back and forth on the same route.

The walk offers lovely views towards an atypical manmade lake of Cyprus as well as exposure to the flora of the local (pine) forest combined with olive orchards.

You can choose to either meet the guide at the tour start point or he can pick you up in his private car from your hotel/apartment in the Ayia Napa / Protaras or Larnaca areas. Pick up is also available from Limassol and Nicosia at a location arranged in advance.

Please note that if choosing pick up, this is in the guide's own private vehicle which holds private insurance. It is not a public service vehicle or taxi.

Full payment is required at the time of booking.

Not recommended for participants with serious medical conditions, for people with walking difficulty.

Suitable for ages 13+ with moderate physical fitness who can walk around 10km over varied terrain.

The schedule of the walk is flexible to spend more time/less time at points of interest along the way as required. You can discuss preferences with the guide on the day of the tour.

As a rule, unless other arrangements are agreed beforehand, the trip is guided by Phivos, either in the English or the Greek language. Phivos also speaks good German, good Spanish, elementary French and elementary Mandarin.

Water (Could be purchased at Lefkara village).

Good shoes (with grip) for walking are necessary
