This private luxury tour for up to 4 people takes you to little known cultural landmarks deeply important in the history and spirituality of the island of Cyprus. Travel from Ayia Napa or Protaras through the lower foothills of the mountains to the impossibly located Stavrovouni Monastery Founded in the 4th century by Saint Helena. We also visit Saint Lazarus church in Larnaca old town and the 11th century church in Kiti.

Description

A charming scenic guided tour to Stavrovouni Monastery - Holy Cross founded in the 4th Century by Saint Helena located at the top of the Stavrovouni mountains offers a breath taking spiritual and rich historical experience.

The tour begins with a scenic drive and provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and churches with wonderful stories. Upon arrival visitors learn about the Monastery's rich history, Byzantine architecture and the daily lives of the monks who reside there. It is believed that a fragment of the Holy Cross is still here...

Please note that only men may enter the monastery and they must be wearing long trousers.

We then head into the old town of Larnaca where we visit the beautiful church of Saint Lazarus. Dating back to the 9th century, it's a lovely building with many interesting features.

Our final stop is the 4th century Holy Church of the Virgin Mary Angeloktisti at Kiti. Another beautiful old building which has seen many centuries of history pass by.

This is a small group trip for up to 4 people.

This trip is not wheelchair accessible.

Only Men may enter Stavrovouni Monastery.

Long trousers must be worn in the monastery

Children are welcome on this tour under their parents supervision.

The driver will be your guide and he speaks excellent English and Greek. A Polish speaking driver is also available for advance bookings.
